Q: What is it?
Footy Analyser provides extensive historic analysis of the current year and previous seasons and using a unique set of parameters, predicts the likely results for all games to be played across the 4 English Leagues. Follow the English football season on a week by week basis as the results unfold.
Q: Why would I pay for it?
It provides any keen football fan or gambler up to date information that is easy to digest. Combine the data provided in the forecast with your own football knowledge to find the best combination of forecasts to place individual or accumulator bets each week.
Q: It looks too good Beavan, you can’t have made it yourself!
The server component (that crunches all the data) and the iOS app were developed by me. The forecasting model was developed and has evolved with the help of Paddy Le Noury who is far cleverer than me when it comes to trying to understand it all.
Q: So, when will it be finished?
Err, well, it kind of was finished and released in 2012, but it needs a bit of love ahead of each season and things have been a little hectic for the last two seasons and I haven’t managed to get it updated and released in time. I will however be getting my arse into gear in 2017 and getting it updated ahead of the 2017⁄18 season. I have also found a good source for european results and fixtures so will expand the app to cater for these additional leagues too.
Things have also moved on in the app world so the app needs a UI refresh also.
Some more info
To provide more extensive background information, the Footy Analyser is split into 3 sections:
The Forecast section shows the upcoming fixtures to be played in the next 3/5/7 days and predicts the outcome of each game using a combination of the last 5 games played by each team together with the head to head record over the last 6 seasons. Subtle adjustments are made to factor in newly promoted and relegated clubs. Tap the fixture to expand the view and the last 5 opponents and results for both teams will be shown and the head to head record for previous seasons.
The Results section shows the results for the current season by League and the full league table. Select your favourite team from the scrollbar on the right hand side to see your team’s performance for the season to date. The app shows the original predicted result as well so that as the season unfolds you can monitor the progress against the original predictions.
The Stats section shows a more detailed view of the league table incorporating the last 5 home and away results and also the last 8 overall. Use the stats section to help when you are unsure about the information shown in the forecaster. Click on any individual team and that team’s results for the current season will be shown in the side panel.
